Black Heart Lament

Would that Almighty God
Reach down with fearsome hand
Which created heav’n and earth
And shaped mountain and sea
And smite mine enemies soundly
A resounding smack across the tushkess

Would that they be pulled from their high place
And made to sit for judgement
By a peer ev’n darker then they
Who doth dig and prod
And poketh and jab
And pierce their soul with pain

Would that this rage
This white hot pain
Be lifted from my heart
And Almighty God
Thou fearsome One
Bring peace upon His son
