Time to Be Your Man; An Audio Post

I’ve been on the road almost non-stop, working in the remote locations and small towns my profession takes me to. So I haven’t posted a blog for awhile, nor have I had a chance to read any others. I’m home for a couple of nights and squeezed in a few moments in the studio to record something I wrote out in the woods yesterday. See what you think:

  1. Very nice — but oh, so sad in the beginning and hopeful at the end, but… I don’t know, still sad somehow.

  2. Yeah. It’s a sad song. He sees how he let it go and is hoping to turn it around. I used to ONLY write sad songs 🙂 Back in those days, I didn’t have any joy. I’ve got some now–a wheel barrow full–but once in awhile I like to write a sad song to remember what it feels like.

  3. Sad songs are the BEST. This is a good one, Jethro.

    • Thanks, Ken. I figured you would like this one. I sent you a copy.

  4. Absolutely beautifuly in a rip-your-heart-out sort of way. There is that nice sense of maturity that comes in. (I feel compelled to type “sigh” because I literally did just that.)

    Welcome home, sort of!

How did you get the piano into the woods? 😉

    • P.S. So glad about the wheelbarrow full of joy. Everyone should have that!

    • Thanks! I had to write this one by drumming on a hollow log with sticks. I appreciate the feedback!

  5. I do appreciate your musical choice and effort that you had juggle to get this out. Your inventive work has a lasting effect. Thanks.

    • Thank you so much, Mike.

  6. I’m glad to know that very large brain of yours never rests, even out there with the woodland creatures. Nice job converting the melody from “log” to piano. If I had a thumbs up key on my keyboard, I would place one here.

    • Thank you, Margie. I like this song. Going to put this one on a CD, I think.
